DO YOU HAVE AN EYE FOR FACE SHAPES?

Did you know there are seven face shapes?

One of the easiest face shapes in the Optical World of fitting people with new eyewear is the Oval Face Shape.  It is so versatile that ya’ll I can literally put any shape on your face if it’s Oval, and you will be able to wear them all.

The second shape is the Heart Shape.  This shape is a base up triangle so we need to select frames that are wider at the bottom.  This will help to offset the wider forehead.  You can also select a frame that is darker at the bottom to create more of an appearance at the bottom where your face goes narrow.

Thirdly, we have the Oblong face.  To shorten your face and make the glasses look more symmetrical on your face choose a frame with decorative temples.  The temples are what some people call the arms.  They are the part that goes over your ears.  Also, Oblong faces should choose a frame that is deeper vertically to shorten the face.

The fourth shape is the square.  This features a strong jaw line with a broad forehead with the width and depth of the face roughly the same proportions. Our goal is to soften the hard edges with rounded corners or use narrow shapes. A good choice would be frames that have more width then depth. An oval shape should be considered or a completely round shape may hit the mark.

Fifth we have the Diamond Shape. Rimless shapes that are oval, butterfly, or cat eye will pair well and give that needed flair.

Now the sixth face shape is Round.  It’s best to look for frames with sharp, funky angles. Narrow frames will help to lengthen the lines of the face, too. Rectangular frames that are wider than deep will give depth and a sense of a harder edge to balance the fullness.

Lastly we have the base down triangle.  This shape is evident when a narrow forehead sits atop a wider cheek and chin area. It’s best to emphasize the upper face with heavy accents on the top of the frame. Strong, bold colors in a semi-rimless or combination frame will direct the eye to fill out this area more proportionately. Cat eye styles with strong, uplifting angles will flatter and give balance.
